Being a polio survivor, Rotary’s worldwide effort to eradicate polio from the face of the earth is what inspired John to become a part of Rotary. His identical twin brother and John contracted polio when they were eight months old. They were in isolation and for six weeks. They both went through years of therapy, braces and often ridicule from other children who just did not understand.

John is most fortunate to be alive and walking because Polio cripples children, even today.  The fact that it is possible to eradicate polio should motivate us all to do whatever we can to make it happen. Rotary is the world leader in doing just that!
